Keep your mums adequately watered for maximum life expectancy!
3 Options of Watering:
Pan Method
Place a pan with enough room to hold the mum and some water. I reccomend filling the pan with water once in the morning and once in the evening, but it is wise to pay attention to how your mum is doing. If it looks dry and wilted, it likely needs more water. If it looks heavy, drooping, and wilted, it may need a break from water.
Bucket Method
Fill a five gallon bucket with water, place the mum in the bucket, and wait for at least one minute before removing the mum. You will want to wait for the mum to stop floating in the bucket of water before removing. You do NOT need to remove the mum from its original container as it has holes at the bottom of the container for water absorption and release. If you choose to use this watering method, I reccomend watering once per day (more times as needed). This is an extremely effective method, especially when your mum is very dry.
Hand Watering
Part the flowers of the mum and pour water directly into the pot. If you choose to use this method, you will almost certainly need to water your mums multiple times per day as needed. Furthermore, it is important not let water get on the leaves or flowers as this will burn and kill them (rain will not harm the mums).
One way you can always know whether your mums are receiving adequate water is how the soil feels around the plant within the pot. If the soil is moist but not soggy, they are sufficiently watered. If the soil is soggy, you are likely overwatering. If the soil is dry, you likley need to water the mums more!
